Modules

Module 1. An Introduction to Community Economic Development (CED) An overview of what CED is / steps to set up a CED Program / assessing community readiness

Module 2. Community Economics and Pre-Planning Analysis Understanding the local economy and how it works / analyzing the data

Module 3. CED Strategies A review of Community Economic Development Strategies – business development, sustainable development, community revitalization, population development, workforce development and more.

Module 4. Finance & Governance Municipal Government Responsibilities and Powers, Municipal Budgeting and Land Use Planning.

Module 5. Strategic Planning The importance of strategic planning for economic development / steps to strategic planning /maximizing success for your community.

Module 6. Communications Communication plans and incorporating best communications practices / media relations / using social media.

Module 7. Marketing the Community (including Investment Attraction Marketing) How to market your community and develop a community brand / understanding the 6 P’s of experience marketing / choosing the right marketing tools for your community.

Module 8. Operations and Project Management Project Management and Performance Measurement – determining project priorities / identifying potential partners / evaluating progress.

Condition1*

I understand that my community is responsible for:

Arranging for a venue and any refreshments during the half-day session and covering associated costs.
Providing A-V equipment (projector, screen, flip chart & markers).
Issuing invitations and confirming attendees (to a maximum of 20).
Advance payment of module fees ($1500 up to 15 people and $150 per person over 15 — you will be invoiced once session date is confirmed).
Registering attendees online at the provided link (required in order to confirm number of handout packages, track module completion and issue certificates of recognition).
